YOUTH HOCKEY

YOUTH HOCKEY

The Tahoe Ice Arena youth hockey development programs are open for players of all ages and ability levels. Our philosophy is to work on the fundamental aspects of hockey to build confidence, and a solid foundation to grow and build from. Our program begins with Learn to Skate and players move into our Youth Hockey Development Sessions.

For the more advanced player who wishes to move into Travel Hockey, the Tahoe Grizzlies Youth Hockey Organization plays out of the facility and is open to players aged 6 to 18.

Our Youth Hockey Development Sessions, formerly known as our Cub Sessions are a 1 hour skill session focusing on skating, stickhandling, passing and small area games. These sessions are geared towards new and beginning hockey players who have graduated from the Learn to Skate Program.

To find the next upcoming Youth Hockey Development Session simply click on the Ice Schedule button below which will bring up our Ice Schedule and search for "Youth Hockey Development" Sessions where you'll be taken to our online sign up page.

The process to ourHOCKEY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

STEP 1

LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM

Our Learn to Skate is a child's first step into becoming a hockey player. This program is a step-by-step introduction to skating that focuses on the proper techniques of balance, how to get up, strides, stopping and most importantly having fun on the ice. Ages for this program are 5 to 11 years old and participants who sign up are free to skate in our Public Sessions immediately following their class.

STEP 2

Lil SHARKS PROGRAM

The Lil Sharks Program is a great transition for kids who have progressed through our Learn to Skate Program and are now ready to be introduced to the basic concepts of ice hockey. This includes skating and stick handling fundamentals, and is designed for players aged 5-9 who are new to the sport of ice hockey. Participants sign up through the Lil Sharks website and receive all their gear, stick and skates.

STEP 3

T.I.A DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

This program is designed for players who wish to continue their skill set development. The program is open to both travel and recreational hockey players and the focus is applied to enhancing the fundamental concepts of skating, stick handling, passing, shooting, and overall hockey IQ. Game like situations will also be implemented to improve team and positional play.
